Q: Are your candles really handmade?
A: Yes! Every candle is hand-poured in small batches by me (Heather). No factories, no mass production, just wax, scent, and a whole lot of love.
Q: Do the food candles really smell like the food?
A: They do! From cinnamon buns to chili dogs, the goal is scent-based nostalgia. People will be confused. That’s part of the fun.
Q: What kind of wax do you use?
A: - Soy and parasoy blends for most candles
- Coconut wax for some jar candles
- Gel wax for drink-style candles
- Clean oils (no dyes) for diffusers in my Flickers West Pure line
Q: Are your candles hypoallergenic?
A: No candle is totally allergen proof, but my Flickers West Pure diffusers use clean, simple ingredients, great for sensitive noses.
Q: Do you take custom orders?
A: Sometimes! I love coming up with new creations when I have time. Message me with what you have in mind and I’ll let you know what’s doable.
Q: Where can I shop in person?
A: I’m in several Painted Tree Boutiques across OH, KY, PA, IN, and TN. Check out the Store locations page for more information.
Q: Is it weird that I want to eat one of your candles?
A: Honestly? No. But… please don’t. Also no. They're wax. I know they look delicious. Just no.
Q: How long should I burn a candle for?
A: For the love of wax, not all day. First burn should be 2–3 hours to get a full melt pool. After that, 3–4 hours max each burn.
Q: Do I need to trim the wick?
A: Yes. Always. Before every burn. Quarter inch. Otherwise you’ll get a wild dancing flame and a smoke show nobody asked for.
Q: Why is my candle tunneling?
A: Because you didn't give it time to melt all the way to the edges on the first burn. It's not mad, just disappointed.
Q: Are these safe for pets/kids/gremlins?
A: Yes... as long as no one eats them or knocks them into curtains. Use common sense. You’ve got this!
Q: Can I live in your candle workshop?
A: Mentally? Sure. Physically? Probably not, I don't always work well with others.
Q: Why didn’t my candle use all the wax?
A: Because I make weirdly shaped candles. That’s kind of my thing.
Some designs won’t burn every bit of wax and that’s okay!
Just break up the leftovers and toss them into a wax melter.
No waste. No drama.
