MEET YOUR CHANDLER
Hi, I’m Heather! I'm the heart, hands, and occasional chaos behind Flickers West Candles.
If you ended up here because of a random little trinket at a concert or festival... Hi, that was me. I know it’s a little unconventional (and hopefully not too annoying), but I figured I’d take a chance and put my work out there in a different way.
Not too long ago, I had my candles in 9 different Painted Tree Boutique locations across multiple states. Then Painted Tree unexpectedly filed for bankruptcy, and I had to scramble to recover all my candles before they closed in 10 days. It was an awful time for thousands of small businesses
So yeah… that was a bit of a plot twist.
It wasn’t exactly part of the plan, but if there’s anything owning this business has taught me, it’s how to pivot and keep going. And honestly, it pushed me back toward the part of this I care about most.
Every candle is made with care, curiosity, and just enough mayhem to keep things interesting. Some look like dessert. Some smell like memories. Some might confuse your friends, and that’s part of the fun.
Whether it’s a cinnamon roll, a Cincinnati cheese coney, or something clean and classic, I make each one to spark something. A laugh, a smile, a little peace, or maybe all three.
I grew up in a candle making family, surrounded by wax, wicks, and the smell of creativity (and, occasionally, singed hair). My parents have been doing this for over 30 years, and I learned right alongside them.
Over time, I added my own spin... a love of painting, cake decorating, and making things with a borderline concerning level of detail. Somewhere along the way, my sense of humor found its way into the wax too.
These days, I’m back to small batches, working out of my own space that's slightly messy, a little experimental, and a lot more hands on again.
Thanks for being here, however you found me. I really do appreciate it and don't take it lightly.
(Yes, it's a candle pun.)
— Heather
